About this course
For experienced groomers wishing to gain the qualification we can tailor the dog grooming course to your needs and, if all that is required is the assessment (i.e. there is no need for training/ a dog grooming course) then Heavenlyz can deliver the assessment at your workplace providing it meets certain criteria. For more details, please contact us.
The City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants enables basic skills required to work in a commercial dog grooming environment. The Certificate is a standalone qualification but is also the prerequisite to the new City and Guilds level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming 7863-03.
The Level 2 certificate also provides you with a solid platform from which you could go on to study the Level 3 Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming course (registration remains open until August 31st 2017) or the 7763 Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists. You will learn about different grooming and styling techniques, health and safety, and working with people and animals.

The Qualifications are made up of units and contain a short online ‘evolve’ multiple choice examination taken at your selected training centre (for which you will get exam outcome feedback on the same day).
Students have 12 months from registration date to complete the level 2.
To gain the Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants with Heavenlyz, candidates must undertake assessments for the following: –
- Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing
- Bathe and clean dogs
- Clean and maintain equipment used for grooming or removing hair from animals
- Control and restrain animals
- Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling
- Basic trimming of a dog’s coat
- Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment
During the Heavenlyz dog grooming course, you will be required to undertake an online multiple choice theory examination. This will be sat under exam conditions at an approved site (normally the same site where the student attends their dog grooming course). For this qualification, there is one multiple choice examination paper, at half an hour in length.
Registration for this exam should be done at least 6 weeks prior to examination date, at which point the exam will be scheduled at the earliest available date at the location of the student’s choice.
