The apprenticeship qualification will reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do the job effectively within an animal care environment.

You will need to have a strong love for animals and have a friendly and enthusiastic nature to be able to deliver natural friendly customer care. The role requires you to be on your feet all day and at times is very labour intensive with lots of manual handling. You may be required to work outdoors and sometimes in adverse weather conditions, so a love for the outdoors is desirable. The workplace may require you to work on Bank Holidays including Christmas day and you must be prepared to enjoy cleaning, as where there are animals and human visitors there is always a lot of mess to clean up!
